Filtraglass Systems: Sustainability and Environmental Protection

Caring for planet Earth has become a matter present in almost every aspect of society. The truth is that, in recent decades, there has been much talk about climate change, about how it can alter the planet's image and the lives of living beings, including humans. This week, this issue has gained greater prominence because on April 22nd, Earth Day was commemorated. A date that has been celebrated since the seventies, and that, every year, emphasizes one or several issues. This year, under the motto: "Planet vs. Plastics", the three major problems facing planet Earth have been highlighted: pollution, loss of biodiversity, and climate change.

Earth Day, year after year, with the numerous events organized, shows that the public is increasingly concerned about the climate crisis. In Spain, 77% of the population admits it, making it one of the most environmentally conscious European countries (according to CIS data at the end of 2023). The commitment to sustainability is evident when companies, a fundamental piece of the economy, work on formulas to make industrial activity more efficient. This is the case of Filtraglass and its water treatment systems in the glass industry.

For those who are not yet familiar with them, the first thing to note is that the installation of Filtraglass systems in glass processing machinery provides up to an 85% savings in water consumption. This is a recycling system that filters the water used in manufacturing processes to return it clean to the supply circuit. In this way, the machines continue to operate with quality water, and at the same time, responsible use of this essential and, at the moment, scarce resource is made.

Furthermore, these water treatment systems also contribute to reducing environmental pollution. In the filtration process, glass dust particles are separated and converted into solid, dry, removable, and recyclable waste. This prevents glass dust generated by machines during the process from ending up deposited in the environment.

In conclusion, Filtraglass is contributing its bit to this difficult but necessary mission of protecting the planet, and furthermore, it helps such an important industry as the glass industry to continue its activity efficiently and in harmony with planet Earth.
